SIGHTLIFE
SightLife is one of the leading eye banks of the world serving as an international nongovernmental organization (INGO) to eliminate corneal blindness. SightLife’s mission is to eliminate cornea blindness, and they are working to achieve that mission by creating partner eye banks in the developing countries, where 90% of the 10 million people suffering from curable cornea blindness live. Working with surgeons in over 30 countries, SightLife restores sight to more than 20 men, women, and children each day.
NPCB
National Programme for Control of Blindness was launched by Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of health & Family Welfare, Government of India in the year 1976 as a 100% Centrally Sponsored scheme with the goal to reduce the prevalence of blindness. The objectives of the programme are: - (i) To reduce the backlog of blindness through identification and treatment of blind. (ii) To develop Eye Care facilities in every district. (iii) To develop human resources for providing Eye Care Services. (iv) To improve quality of service delivery. (v) To secure participation of Voluntary Organizations in eye care.
LVPEI
LVPEI is a not-for-profit organization governed by two trusts: the Hyderabad Eye Institute and the Hyderabad Eye Research Foundation. The Institute is a World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Prevention of Blindness and a Global Resource Center for VISION 2020: The Right to Sight initiative. Equipped with cutting-edge technology and distinguished professionals in the field of eye care, they emphasize on the provision of quality eye care to people from all sections of society. Since their establishment they have provided outpatient services to 6 million people and surgical care to over 585,000 patients - almost 52 percent of them free of charge.
